BIG Heart Program's Charities
Our first Charity will be Ron Farr's BIG Dream, who several of you have already expressed interest in helping personally.
Ron Farr's BIG Dream
Ron needs to raise $130,000 to help fund programs that teach the homeless the life skills they need to get and stay off the streets. Ron gave up a very lucrative computer career to be the Chaplain at Gateway, the Salvation Army's men's hostel on Jarvis Street. Ron says that often the men who do the program at Gateway fall back to the same old life because they have no community to fall back on. He convinced the City to let him use an old warehouse rent free and there began Ron's Warehouse at Parliament and Winchester. Ron and his remarkable wife, Linda, are spending all their spare time helping everyone who comes to Ron's Warehouse, men, women and children, and are doing it with unconditional love in their hearts. With your help BIG can help make Ron Farr's BIG Dream come true.
The Terry Fox Run
2005 is the 25th anniversary of the Terry Fox Run. BIG members are participating in the Run on Sunday September 18th, from 8:00am - 12 noon, handing out water to the runners. This is starting at the North York Gibson Park at the corner of Beecroft Road and Parkholme. We are grateful to Gordon Wellsbury and his team for taking the time to organize the Big Heart Program.
